UEFA give Barcelona a 0% chance of qualifying

With Barcelona setting their sights on making Champions League history next week, UEFA believe there is absolutely no hope of the Catalan club doing so.

Never before in the history of the competition has a side overcome a 4-0 first leg deficit to qualify for the next round.

However, that is the challenge of Luis Enrique's side as they prepare to host Paris Saint-Germain at the Camp Nou.

Based on previous precedents, UEFA have issued a new study which claims that there is a 0 percent chance of Barcelona overturning the score and upsetting the odds.

As far as the statistics are concerned, Angel Di Maria's double and goals from Julian Draxler and Edinson Cavani have already eliminated Barcelona from the competition.

There have been 58 previous occasions in the Champions League when a team has held a four-goal lead at the halfway stage and on no occasion has the underdog prevailed.

History awaits Barcelona on March 8 if they can pull off the seemingly impossible and take their place in the record books.

According to the statistics gathered by UEFA, reigning champions Real Madrid have the best chance of any Spanish team of reaching the next round.

It is 98.8 percent likely that they won't make a mess of their 3-1 lead against Napoli, while Atletico Madrid are 96.6 percent likely to join them after a 2-1 win over Leicester City at home.

Sevilla's chances are rated at 51.1 percent.
